Last June, my online group of
wives and mommies started this journey. We were voluntarily asked who wants to
join because obviously most of the dares are not easy and that it takes
commitment to finish the 40 days journey.
I did participate and I did not tell my husband about it.
I joined not because we are
having marital problems –it is mainly because I wanted to improve as a wife, to
learn more, to be more supporting and most of to be more submissive to my dear
husband. It’s not because I have a
problem with my husband but it is more of me and my character.
The very first dare was the
hardest. LOVE IS PATIENT-holding back your tongue. And admittedly up to this
date I still lose my patience but praise God, the husband said I’ve improved a
LOT.
I only mentioned the dare to him after
we’re done with it na. He said he noticed the small changes in me, like I
became more appreciative of him, more thoughtful and many other small changes
that he’s thankful for. What I noticed
is that we have less arguments now even in tough times, that is not the case
before this journey because of my being impatient.
One of my favorite dare is having
“rules of engagement” and whenever we have arguments now, we are both reminded
of the rules we made. That works for us and it made our fights (if I can call
it that) shorter.
I cannot say our marriage is
perfect because it is far from that but we have improved and we hope to keep on
improving and also I do hope we can become an inspiration too to our friends,
relatives and church mates.
Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with
one another in love.
As you age you will do better in all things. You learn what is important and what's not so important. I love this challenge.
