We were home early last Sunday and I'm kinda in the mood to cook so I experimented. Here's what Ihave come up with only a can of cream of mushroom in my pantry :)
"Pork Chop with Cream of Mushroom Sauce"
Season your pork with salt/pepper.
Fry it until tender or slightly brown.
Add the cream of mushroom. I also added small amount of water.
Simmer for few minutes and you're done!! Easy peasy meal :)

Meatballs with Misua and Patola
Don't you love hot soup during rainy days? I do. And because I have time and energy last week due to work cancellation, I finally tried this yummy soup meal.
If you want to try this, here are the ingredients:
Ground pork
Misua (very thin chinese noodles)
Patola (sponge gourd in English)
celery
garlic
onion
pepper
salt
egg

And here's how I made it (courtesy of our cook in the office-nagpaturo ako sa kanya)
for the meatballs :
I added pepper, minced garlic and onion and celery, salt (or to be honest, I used maggi magic sarap :) and then one egg (to hold the meat in shape daw)
Saute garlic and onion in oil, add water, then wait to boil, add the vegetable ( I think you can add more vegies if you want) then add the meatballs.
And there you go! Enjoy!
My husband loved it :)

Pork ribs Sinigang
Finally! a home cooked dinner for me and my husband last night. I was home earlier than him and I decided to drop by at the supermarket and cook this.
But because we're quite hungry na, we didn't wait long enough for the pork to become really tender and soft :( but over all, it's yummy and we had a bowl full for each of us. may second serving pa.

I'm not a good cook and I don't even know if my sinigang is right, but just in case you want to know, here's how I did it;
I boiled the pork with sliced onions and some salt, I added tomatoes and gabi ( a root crop) I don't know what it's called in English term..hehe then I added the okra and the mustard leaves, then the sinigang instant mix (normally I would use real sampalok but I was kinda lazy last night) and then the green chili and that's it!
We still have leftover if you want some :)

Chicken curry
This is one of my husband's favorite chicken recipe, unfortunately because I am such a crappy cook, haven't tried this recipe yet. Just taking a look at it makes me feel like"I can't do that, it's so complicated" nyahahaha!
BUT..I want to cook it for hubby so I printed the simplest recipe I saw from the internet and I am going to cook this for him one of these days..hopefully sooner.

Simple vegetable dish
It's been a while since the last time I cook ( I almost forgotten how to turn on my stove) but last Saturday night, as we have been given veggies, I was kinda forced to cook it and here's what I've come up to.
May makain lang kami that night - hehe!
I sautéed the veggies (chinese cabbage, red bellpepper and sweet pea?) in butter and garlic, added a pack of instant noodles with the flavoring and presto! a yummy vegetable dish in less than 10 minutes. It's actually a complete meal because of the noodles but of course we still wanted some rice :)

My pork kaldereta
I did this last week but I only got the chance to post it now. See? I'm true to my word :) I will learn a lot of dishes this year :D
My sister cooked this when they stayed with us during our Star City trip and the husband and I both loved it so I said I am also going to learn how to do that. But sad to say mine tasted different although for my husband it's perfect but for me it's still not as masarap as my Ate Rina's :)
Anyways, here are the ingredients:
1/2 kilo pork
kaldereta mix ( I think tomato sauce will do too)
Liver spread
onion
garlic
potato
carrots
green pepper
And here's how I did it;
I sauteed the garlic and onion in butter, then the pork, I added salt and simmered till the pork is tender, then I put the kaldereta mix and liver spread, potato and carrots and the green pepper. I also added pepper :)
For those who don't cook like me, this one is easy and I'm sure you can do it too!

Chicken in garlic and barbecue sauce
I don't know how to call this recipe, but here's how my husband (yes, that's correct! DH made it, with my help of course)
He covered the chicken wings with salt and pepper, I added some minced garlic and barbecue marinade sauce, added carrots and potatoes because I wanted some vegies to go with the meal. We put it in the oven, waited for at least 30 minutes and we had a sumptuous dinner!
He was more than happy with the outcome. :) It's very seldom that he help with cooking because he really do not know what to do, actually without me helping him with this meal, he would have made it adobo because that's the only recipe he knew.
Oh well, I know, most men are discussing bmw 7 series custom floor mats and anything about cars, my husband has been talking nonstop about a new motorbike model he wants and I understand.
At least I know I can still depend on him (with regards to cooking) in times of need :)

Color coded chopping board set
I first saw this in one of n@wie blogs, last Sunday while doing our grocery in Shop wise Pasong Tamo, I saw one and I checked the price. It's 700.00 plus, forgot the exact amount. Of course the husband said it's way too expensive for a chopping board. I did not buy it, but I'm gonna have it some other time. :)
Although kitchen is NOT my best friend, I love the idea of using different chopping board, one for vegetables, one for meat and another one for fish. Nice no?
The one in the picture is from Amazon and it cost £29.40 ...a newer version is available for £45.00. So what we have here is way much cheaper na di ba?

My version of Pork Binagoongan
I've been cooking! and we've been over eating :(
It was Sunday night after checking some fireplace mantel designs when I decided to try the Pork Binagoongan recipe I got from J-mies recipe blog. I just made some variations.
Here’s how I did it.
I boiled the pork for at least 10 minutes, then fried it until crisp brown.
Sauté the onion and garlic, add minced tomatoes
Add the bagoong (shrimp paste) and small amount of vinegar, simmer until the shrimp paste is well cooked.
I then added the pork and the sliced eggplants.
I added a spoon of brown sugar also and simmered until the eggplants are soft enough :)
And I am done!! This is best with rice of course.

Sinampalukang Manok (chicken in tamarind soup)
Guess what? The beef I said I will cook on my last post didn't happen at all that night. Why? because my father had a changed of mind. He realized it would be too late to cook such and we were all hungry for dinner. So I was spared :)
So what we have for dinner that night was a quick chicken meal recipe, one that I have tried many times. Hubby liked it and he requested for it so I gladly did it for them. At least this one is not as complicated as finding the best acne treatments out there and certainly not as hard as the beef recipe.
Sinampalukang manok:(chicken in tamarind soup)
1 kilo chicken (adobo cuts and soup pack)
Garlic
Onions
ginger
tamarind cubes
mustard leaves
green chili leaves
fresh tamarind fruits
I sauteed the ginger, garlic and onion in butter then I added the chicken,I covered the pan and let it cooked for at least 15 to 20 minutes. I added the tamarind cubes and the tamarind juice. I added the mustard and chili leaves.Serve hot!
I forgot to take pictures though but everyone said it's yummy!

Random thoughts
at work. You see I am ta the office but my mind is wandering somewhere else. It's only 4:37 pm and I still have to finish some stuff but I am already dead tired. As in my mind is already shut, so I closed my eyes for a while, open my facebook account, closed it, open blogger and decided to just write while resting. Now that's something new huh? writing while resting, have you ever tried it?
As I have said my mind is wandering from different thoughts but the majority of it think about food, does it mean I am hungry?Right now, I am thinking of dinner later. And it's like I am motivating my self to cook something, have not cook for quite sometime now. I don't even
remember what and when was the last time I cook. That only validates that I am not a kitchen person. I just hope I find myself in the mood to cook later. Ask me to do something, clean the room, clean the bathroom and I will gladly do it, cooking is not just my forte, good thing hubby does not require me to cook and good thing we have a very good friend, housemate that loves to cook!!
I imagine if I already have kids, I hope by the time God granted our prayers for a child I would have then develop a love for cooking, otherwise my children will be lovers of junkfoods and will lack all the nutrients they need, they might even need hgh supplements for them to grow tall. Sigh. Alright then, I should start learning to love the kitchen, I'm weird though because I love watching cooking shows but I really can't cook. :)
I wish I could go home now and see what I can do at home. Wanna guess?
Will I blog? Will I play games on facebook? Will i watch TV or Dvd's? or will I cook?
I'll let you know tomorrow or later! bye!

I know I am not a good cook but...
Last Friday, while having our movie marathon, I took time to cook Tuna spaghetti for my nephews. I got the recipe in my kitchen calendar and since we’re not home that time I remembered all the ingredients and the cooking process only in my memory.
I am not a good cook, I have to admit that, but when I do it I make sure I do it with all my heart specially when I’m cooking the recipe for the first time. I have always been fascinated with the chefs and I watched several cooking reality shows, even local cooking TV shows I catch them up when I have time. I love the way they prepare something ordinary and make it look super special. Interesting.
I guess that’s the wonder of being a graduate from a culinary school or a chef school.
How I wish I am one of them but that of course I know would always remain a wish on my list. I heard culinary schools are quite expensive, but it’s all worth it I should say. Chef earned big bucks especially if you work for some five star hotel or top restaurant or maybe even more in luxury ships.
For now, I will enjoy whatever I can cook for my hubby and for my nephews & nieces. They loved that Tuna Spaghetti and I’m happy.
By the way, if you’re looking for some culinary schools. Check this site. They have broad list of cooking school. Who knows you’ll be one of the next top chef in the country.
Happy cooking!
