Breakfast @ Sinangag Express

I am such a breakfast person :) and I've been wanting to try Sinangag Express (sinangang means fried rice) so I can have a taste of their "authentic Vigan longganisa". So when we joined the youth of our church in their "Run for a Cause" activity last Saturday (Feb.18) we headed to the nearest Sinagang Express branch  in San Antonio Village, Makati City and had these :)

what a wonderful way to start a day.

My Vigan longganisa breakfast

I'm not disappointed, though I think it is still a bit different from the Vigan longganisa that I'm used to..it is still so good!! I wasn't able to resist the rice of course :)

My dear husband had tapa (as always)
and chilled taho for dessert :D

We spent more or less 200 pesos I guess, not bad for that very very yummy breakfast!

Bok Choy with mushrooms

I am not a good cook but I do cook sometimes and this week, it seems I have energy to prepare some decent meals (but I tell you this energy won't last till next week)

I got this this 10 minute vegetable meal as usual from my friend J-mie (tonightsdinnerrecipes.com) She loves to cook and she loves to teach us :) and share with us her recipes.

here's how I did it

1. Saute garlic cloves in butter
2. Add mushrooms and the chicken broth
3. Add the chinese/taiwan pechay or the bok choy
4. Salt and pepper to taste

Try it! My husband said it's good :) he has no choice of course..hehe! But for sure J-mie's way much better than mine :(

Will cook tonight :)

My parents are staying with me tonight and I wanted to please them so I asked them what they want for dinner and my father said Nilagang Baka (Boiled beef) I assumed he thought it would be good to have hot soup because it's rainy. Now I wish I didn't ask because honestly I do not know how to cook nilagang baka. And certainly my husband is not the best person to ask help in cooking, I can ask him about PC Tools and gadgets but not with recipes :(

Thank you though that I can turn to Mr. Google for anything including the recipe I needed. I found one and it seems easy and I really hope it is.

Anyways, I am going to try it tonight and will post it and will let you know if it's a hit or miss. And I hope I won't forget to take pictures because it's very seldom that I cook and I have to document it of course!

Wish me the best!

Nasi Goreng with Pinoy twist

Nasi goreng, literally meaning "fried rice" in Indonesian and Malay, can refer simply to fried pre-cooked rice, a meal including fried rice accompanied with other items, or a more complicated fried rice, typically spiced with tamarind and chilli and including other ingredients, particularly egg and prawns. (wikipedia)

We finally ventured into a a home base food business. And as will see in the pictures below, it is somewhat "rice in a bowl" type of food, our difference only is that we serve Nasi Goreng with special nasi goreng flavorings from Malaysia. We added some pinoy twist though by topping it with all time favorite pinoy food such as adobo, porkchop and fried chicken.

We are just starting and it's a good start. I feel we can go a long way with this business. Food is a necessity and with our super affordable price.I know we can make it!!

Nasi Goreng with Adobong Baboy
Nasi Goreng with Fried Chicken
Nasi Goreng with Longganisang Vigan
Nasi Goreng with  Lumpiang Shanghai
Nasi Goreng with Porck Chop
Nasi Goreng with Beef Tapa
Nasi Goreng with Embutido

Each bowl is priced for only 39.00!!!!!!!!!
Order na!

My awful and happy valentine

Is not a good one, it was totally awful, I did not even bother to wake up till it's past 1 in the afternoon. I didn't have breakfast and lunch. I didn't go to church this morning also which made it all the more awful. Why? well, you can read the story from my other blog.

So yes, I started my day at around past 2 Pm already, went down, ate and then went up to our room again, opened the PC and played some facebook games.

But guess what? it doesn't mean my day ended bad like the way it started because it's not. While playing I got a call from a dear friend who just came back from Palawan and told me the good news :) She's pregnant!! She said she had two pregnancy kit and both gave her two lines. I can sense the excitement, the happiness in her voice!!! although it's sad that she can't have coffee anymore but well I guess it's just right for her to not have any coffee but take prenatal vitamins instead.

Can't wait for her to tell our other friends the good news!! I'm sure everyone will be as excited as I was. But oh..I forgot she told me not to tell anyone yet so keep quite ok?

So you see? because of the happy news my day ended up with a special dinner at our house with crabs, pan grilled blue marlin, buttered vegetable, crab and corn soup, a cake, fresh oranges and a red wine to celebrate the day.

Hope you too had a fine day today! Have a happy week ahead everyone!

I cooked Menudo!

It was last Saturday, I actually craved for my Mom's menudo but it was impossible to ask her to cook for me so I ended up cooking it myself with a help from my brother in law since I have no idea of the ingredients. So here's what I had;

1/2 kilo of pork
1/2 kilo of pork liver
1 pouch tomato sauce
1 liver spread
1 big carrots
2 medium size potatoes
onion
garlic
pepper

I sauteed onion and garlic in margarine ( have no butter eh) then the pork which I marinated in soy sauce and then the liver. After few minutes I put in the liver spread, the tomato sauce, the carrots and potatoes and then pepper and salt to taste. I let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes and it's done. I love it!! Hubby loved it to the max! Sayang I forgot to take a picture of it.
