More than flowers

I know I do not have the most romantic husband ever in the whole wide world, you know the one that always gives you flowers and chocolates on valentines day (or any occasion day ) but I do not complain because I am very assured that I am greatly love by him even without those flowers and stuff. Though sometimes, I secretly wish I also have flowers to post on my instagram on Valentine's day, it's normal for every woman I guess.

But as you age, you realized there are more better ways to show you love and you appreciate your spouse, yes, far better than giving flowers and chocolates.

~Like how my husband is doing the laundry for me today at home while he should be resting because he's taken a leave from work. ~Like how he makes effort to bring and pick me up from my office everyday since we got married (except when he is out of town for mission trips or for office task now that he is working)

~Like, how he strives so hard to provide for our needs, doing what he promised when we exchange vows on our wedding day.

~Like how he stay so faithful and true to me in all sense, true to his feelings, honest with his weaknesses and shortcomings and doing his best to grow and improve.

~Like how he loves the Lord more than anything else in this world, that alone makes me fall in love with him over and over again. I know it's peculiar but it's true, when I see him on his knees worshiping the Lord with all his being, when I see him singing songs for his creator~ it makes me love him more and deeper. And it reminds me that it was the very reason why I married him.

So yes, I may not always have flowers on valentines day but it's ok, because true love is more than flowers and chocolates. And I know I have my one true love everyday. My god's best gift. :)

Blessed.Loved.Surprised

I never thought the husband will be able to pull off a surprise party for me because like what I've said before I always end up knowing it beforehand but this time I failed...My sister Rina is the one who initiated the surprise party actually and  she was helped by friends and my husband of course..

The surprised party happened the day after my birthday (february 09). On the eve of February 08, we also had a party for our Pastor (we have the same birthdate) but it's his 50th so we gave him a party not knowing that while I am busy planning for our Pastor's party, they were also had a party in mind for me :) So sweet!

The party is not that grand if you compare it to others party, no caterer or other party stuff but it was special because well, it's my first ever party in the church, first surprised party ever in my whole life..I never thought, even in  my wildest dream that they will be able to surprise me ( because It's the other way around-I do always plan for parties-for my friends and family, surprise party or not)

Anyways, that day-Thursday was our devotion day for the worship team which my husband leads, we were supposed to go out and have our devotion  in a nearby park, hubby said we will not push through with the going out but doing it instead in our church..and so..when I opened our church gate, I was "surprised" is an understatement..I can't believe my sisters are there and so is my dear father..I'm teary eyed but all smile :)

and then the husband gave me the flowers, my sisters were holding the cake :)
I was ushered to the front and I can't believe the husband made this banner (hehe!) friend said looks like an album launching banner :)

I was so impressed because they prepared all my favorite food :)

And my husband sang the song he composed for our wedding day :) it is so nice to hear that song again after such a long time. My husband may not bring home basketball trophies but nonetheless I am and will always be proud of him!

My niece g& nephew gave me a special song too!

I just feel so blessed and happy, the people present in that simple dinner gathering are the people closest to my heart. Thank you Ate Rina for such a very good evening :)

And oh..I should not forget..the gifts!! the gifts..I should say is the faith..it's my family  and friend's faith that someday soon, we will have our own child. I received feeding bottles and newborn clothes and diaper bag..I looove it!! My own faith in believing that yes..we will have a child was renewed :)

I am overwhelmed!

Anyways, it took me long to post this because I don't know why I'm having a hard time attaching pictures, but I'll edit and put some more pictures when  blogger or rather my net is not acting up anymore.

Mother's love

Have you watched "Wish ko lang" this afternoon?

I did and I cried. The old lady whom all children were polio stricken broke my heart. She was in her 80's already and is still working so she can feed I think five of her adult children who can't walk. And maybe she's one of the many people with rheumatoid arthritis but still doing her best. One of her daughter even said that it's ok for their mother not to eat as long as they (children) are all eating.

The love of the mother completely amazed me. How big her heart is. And I am thankful there's someone who was bothered enough to ask help from that TV program.

I have yet to be a mom and I still do not know If I am capable of such LOVE. I can only admire those mom who loved so much but I could not tell yet how it feels, how it feels to see your kids starve, to see your kids not being able to walk, not being able to go to school..

ahhh..mothers are angels in disguise.

When was the last time you said I love you?

We had a valentine party for the couple in our church last Friday Night, there was a compatibility game where the host asks the couple the same questions and see if they could answer it correctly..It’s funny how the batch of “young once” tried to go back down memory lane and remember a particular date or place like “where was your first date?” or what was the first ”lihi” food your wife asked from you?.”
These couples have been married 15 years and above so I understand how it’s hard for them to remember everything specially the guys. I said nga to my hubby.."you know mahal..we will not gonna win that kind of game".. because I knew hubby is not good in remembering dates and places and the many first things in our relationship.

But what made me sad was..during the batch of “young ones” –meaning couples married 15 years and below..and I see that these are our batches. Ate Becca asked them, when was the last time you said I love you to your wife?

Some answered, yesterday, some said a while ago but one guy answered “last new year”..ouuch…I said to my self..how sad..Hubby may forget our first date, our first meal or even our anniversary..but everyday he make it a point to say his I love you’s to me..upon waking up, while eating..when he take me to office..every chance he could get..and I do the same..and for me..that’s important..I love it when from out of nowhere he would just say "I love you mahal".
An expression of love verbally is important in any relationship. I believe we woman always need an assurance that we are loved..and don’t you think hearing them so often form your husband is one precious gift we can have?

So how about you? when was the last time you said I love you to your significant other?
