Holy Week Vacation 2015

Tonight or early tomorrow morning, we're driving home for a short vacation. Everyone is already in the vacation mood, because for us Filipinos, holy week also means vacation. Though it is a religious holiday, we often take this opportunity to spend time with the family while reflecting about the CROSS and JESUS.

I could have opted not to go home in the province because up to now, I am still in neck deep of works and stuff to do for the upcoming Youth Camp on April 7-10. But I think I need this so I can recharge and be even more ready for the event. Plus I am missing home and Nanay so much already.

I remember the last holy week vacation we spent with Tatay, he was already very sick that time but he was so happy that all of us are at home and spending time with him specially his grand kids.

This year will slightly be different but I am sure he'll be smiling from heaven if he sees us happy and enjoying

*~*
On a not so happy news:

There is a typhoon coming to the Philippines this week, this will be first time to me as I have never had experience a typhoon during summer season here. But weather bureau already categorized it as super typhoon :(  Yes, we need rain (water) here but we don't need that strong winds. The sad news is that, it will affect our camp next week. That alone is bringing me a lot of stress, imagine 150 plus youth sleeping in tents-soaked in rain. I don't even want to think about it. Look how big and scary it is

If you are one who prays, can you include this major weather disturbance in your prayers and us please? Thanks!

If you are also going on a vacation- I hope and pray you'll have good time :) Blessings everyone!

We survived typhoon Glenda

Praise the Lord!

Metro Manila was placed under signal number 3 Tuesday night but it was Wednesday morning when we felt the fury of Glenda. Strong winds battered the city (and our old building) and boy I was scared :(

Thankfully though, that wind was gone in the afternoon and...our roof still intact.

The day before the typhoon, we bought extra food just in case of flooding and we might got stuck in the house like what happened to us last 2011. Hubby had to wade through the flood so he can buy us food.

Power was out the whole day yesterday and it only came back this morning. I was prepared though, both our cellphones were fully charged.

Today, clearing operations are still on going, I am now back in the office and along the way, I saw many trees in the streets but it was not that bad compared to other typhoons. I seriously hope we have learned our lessons well and that we have learned to cope up with calamities like this.

Thank you Lord..we are safe and we continue to pray for those who are greatly affected.

Here are some photos of the typhoon aftermath.

Rain..we welcome thee

Manila was in its hottest temperature yesterday, the news said it was 37 point something. But the good news is, it rained last night and it cooled down, I was able to sleep without complaining of the heat. And it rained again tonight so it is way cooler to regular summer days.

When we were in the hospital, I noticed that a lot of old people are being rushed to the emergency room and most of the problems are stroke, high blood or having difficulty breathing and I heard a lot of doctors and nurses said probably it's because of the heat. Who needs warmer and montecristo cigars or anything like it at this kind of weather. I've been slurping ice cream almost everyday for one week now (and I am not a big fan of ice cream) because of the heat.

So rain, please rain some more, we need you and we welcome you here.

Cool weather today

Good morning!

I was late for work today because I did not want to get up this morning. I think all I want to do is sleep until noon or late afternoon. Why? I was dizzy the whole day yesterday for reasons I do not know, nah..am not expecting so cross that out. And it can’t be some side effects of diet pills because I am not taking one in the first place. Probably it is because of too much reading and too much time in the computer screen and hope it is not heat stroke.

Anyways, I feel a little better now and I hope It would last the whole day.

And oh..we have a very good and cool weather today, did you notice it? It was actually raining (although not heavy rain) when I come to office this morning. What a relief from the hot weather we are having.

Today is cooler so today’s gonna be a good day.

Super hot!!

Have you notice how hot it is today? It's like I'm sweating all day. I realized how blessed am I to be working in an air conditioned office, the heat today made me miss the office (but not the work).

If I am only rich..If only I could afford an aircon and the electricity bill. Maybe I should enroll in medical coding training courses and change job, I don't think I'll ever get rich in my kind of work.

right now, I am just typing but it's like I am doing a rigorous activity. And it's not even March yet??
I imagine how hot it would be on the next months to come.

Anyone wants to donate an airconditioning unit please???

Signal # 2

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical & Astronomical Service Administration or the infamous PAGASA weather bureau, Metro Manila is now placed under signal #2 as well as its neighboring provinces. Right now there is no rain and wind but the sky is gloomy.

But I have to decide soon. You see, we have a major major activity for our Urban Poor Kids ministry tomorrow (mini carnival) but if the weather is bad we have to postponed it. I don't want to risk some 150 kids getting soak in rain or if worst comes to worst stranded in our hands if ever.

Safety and health of the kids comes first. So I guess I really have to cancel the activity tomorrow.

Waaah..so that means calling all the suppliers and re-scheduling everything.

Anyways, before I do that, I'll have to check the bcbsnc or if you do not know what it is , it's the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina® just so I can have comparison. Our office use Blue Cross here and I have also inquired for me and my husband also.

Going back to the weather, it is still not raining..

What shall I do?

Ondoy and the flood

the gate/garage
our dining area
our motorbikes
the kitchen - so obviously we were not able to cook food for a time

Those are some of the pictures we took last Saturday. It's my first personal experience of house being flooded. As you all now we just moved in a little over a month ago and when the water started coming inside the house noontime last Saturday, I was like..what? we are being flooded? because the landlord didn't mention about that, but then a little later I learned that Metro Manila and some nearby provinces are submerged in water and also I also learned that the last time this house/area get flooded was 20 years ago.

It's scary, watching the water going deep, you do not know what to think, good thing the bedrooms are upstairs so we have an option, but right at that moment i was thinking what if the rain don't stop?

Praise God we are all safe, the water was knee deep inside the house, we moved up all the stuff we can moved because were afraid the water might get even higher, it reached near the kitchen sink, an up to our not so Kohler faucets but outside it's worse as you can see the motorbikes are all underwater.

I almost did not sleep, I wanted to watch the water subside and make sure it won't get deeper. And the news is even depressing, there are still people on their roof waiting for rescue and it's already midnight, people sleeping at the LRT station, and the facebook is swamped with messages of people asking for help.

It's not a good weekend. But I do hope and pray everyone gets back to track after this calamity. My heart goes to them who lost their loved ones, lost their homes. And in the end I still end up praising HIM because he made us safe in HIS hands.

Bad weather, good food

I was wrong, I thought it would be a a good weather day because Mr. sun is peeking this morning when I went to office but it turned out to be a bed weather day, it's been raining since I don't know what time maybe right after I entered the office door.

That's why I was surprised when I saw a lot of friends status over Facebook saying it's a rainy lazy day. Some are even thinking of food to go along with this weather. I just wonder why most people have the appetite when it's raining. Even friends who are taking the best weight loss pills eat like there's no tomorrow on lazy weather like this.

I just hope that the weather in cebu is not as bad as here. Otherwise we'll be stucked in our room and sleep and eat. But that wouldn't be too bad also, at least we are in Cebu. hehe!
